About GAISMA
The association has been operating since 2024. Our goal is to inspire young people to actively engage in society, promote personal growth, and develop the community. We foster social integration, the preservation of Latvian culture and traditions, develop opportunities for non-formal education and lifelong learning, and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

A member of the association “Youth social and cultural activity center “GAISMA”” can become any natural person who recognizes the association's statutes and wants to participate in its activities.
Below we have compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about membership status.
Who can become a member?
A member can be any legally capable natural person who has reached the age of 18, accepts the association’s statutes, and wishes to actively get involved in its activities. Meanwhile, you can become a volunteer already from the age of 13, but written consent from a legal representative is required.
What is the difference between a member and a volunteer?
Member can:
- participate in the association’s governance and vote at members’ meetings
- take part in events organized by the association
- submit ideas and proposals
- initiate and implement their own projects within the association
- use the association’s symbols
- gain valuable experience that can be included in their CV
Volunteer helps implement the association’s existing activities and events, does not pay membership fees and does not participate in voting at members’ meetings. A volunteer also gains valuable experience, but does not participate in the association’s governance and decision-making.

What are the responsibilities of a member?
A member is responsible for:
- complying with the association’s Articles of Association;
- actively contributing to the achievement of the association’s objectives;
- paying the annual membership fee once a year;
- complying with the decisions of the General Meeting and the Board;
- safeguarding the association’s good reputation and fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.

Can I participate in the association’s activities remotely?
Yes, of course! Our members live not only in Latvia, but also in other countries. We organize remote meetings and activities so that everyone can get involved in the association’s activities regardless of where they live. We will find an opportunity for everyone to become part of our community.
Do I have to pay a membership fee?
Yes, all members pay a membership fee once a year. Currently it is 15 EUR per year. Members up to the age of 30 receive a 30% discount, so the membership fee is 10 EUR per year.
Can I leave the association?
Yes. A member can leave the association at any time by submitting a written notice to the Board.
