The association “Youth Social and Cultural Activities Center GAISMA” has been operating since 2024 to create opportunities for young people to learn, develop, and actively engage in public life.

Goal
To promote young people’s active participation in society, the exploration and preservation of Latvian culture, and the development of non-formal education, a healthy lifestyle, and lifelong learning in Latvia and in the international environment.

History
The association was founded with the aim to bring together people who are ready to do, create, and change. People who care about their future and the society we live in. People for whom European core values are important – democracy, freedom, equality, human rights, and mutual respect.
That is exactly why our association’s goals are so broad – so that everyone can find the most suitable field in which to get involved, develop, and contribute to society.

Objectives of the association’s activities
- Engage young people in researching, promoting, and bringing to life the core values and traditions of Latvian culture in Latvia and other countries; promote the development of Latvian culture as part of the world, establish contacts, and cooperate with similar organizations in other countries;
- Promote young people’s understanding of the diversity and variety of modern society;
- Promote social integration and reintegration, incl. displaced persons/refugees (in the social, cultural, educational, and civic spheres);
- Promote the popularization of non-formal education among young people and other age groups of the population;
- Involve young people in organizing lifelong learning activities for all age groups of the population;
- Promote a healthy lifestyle among young people, increase awareness of sexual and reproductive health, hygiene, and immunization, promote the prevention of infections and other diseases, and promote the acquisition of first aid skills in emergency situations.
